Daniel Ramsay – UK schools Pi Memorising Record holder
Daniel, 13 beats top UK maths record
‘A TEENAGE whizzkid has stunned teachers by shattering a mathematical record.
Daniel Ramsay, 13, a second year pupil at Boclair Academy in Bearsden, was able to remember Pi to 701 digits.
He beat the UK school memorising record of three years, which stood at 628 digits.
Daniel's maths teacher Mr Taylor said: "He completed 701 within a month and I have no doubt he will reach 1000 by the end of the summer."
"I could stop him half-way through and have a conversation with him and he could pick up where he had left off.
"I have never seen anything like this before and speaking to teachers from other schools, they think it is unbelievable."
Daniel's record attempt was held in the school and witnessed by 20 pupils.
It took him 20 minutes to smash the record and he is now the UK schools Pi record holder.
Daniel said: "I found it very challenging and I am looking forward to breaking my own record."
